The Dude

Just a small post...this is a painting of my cat chester..he is a little ranga three legged legend!!The first one is a sketch i did from a pic i took on my phone.The next one is the outline with a few changes(added a banner and another rose and a shitload of leaves)and the last is the final product...i did this while my wife and brooke were getting pissed which was pretty amusing..laura did a great chester drawing too which i will post soon:)thanks for looking..

whats the worst that could happen?

Got a couple of new paintings done over the last week or two...been having a lot of fun painting lately slowly grasping different things(even though i still have so much to learn..)these two are some of the cleanest paintings ive done as far as keeping the rest of the page crisp..normally i leave shitty finger prints everywhere..

i love panther heads and have only done one in the past and it wasn't as good as i would've liked.. this one took a few sketches and some kind criticism..i used some sailor jerry flash for little bits of it but obviously changed it a lot..

This one was inspired by "o brother where art thou" and george cloony's character..he wears this sick hat in the movie which i looked into getting and its called a gatsby. so i was thinking what i could do and this sort of dude popped into my head..he sorta looks like he has aids but hey u win some u lose some.

This is a lightbox I got made for my birthday from my good friend Stewy. I'm super stoked cause I was using a pretty dodgy home job box. Stu has been extremely helpful throughout my tattooing dream/painting days (as has my wife). I'm very thankful and stoked.

this will be the death of us

Soooo its been a while..got some new paintings trying to take it back a little bit as far as subjects of my paintings of late.. sort of old school still with a touch of new.not necessarily what i was going for but what happened none the less..I think the colours i use have something to do with it looking newish..im probably the most happy with the butterfly on the 2nd sheet out of the both!

This is a random little one i busted out last nite after i finished work(nothing beats painting,music,smokes and cokeacola when everyone else is asleep!) i just googled 'monkeys' and this guy came up.. its definitely not accurate but i think it turned out ok..

This is me and my wifes collection of toys and what not we have been given/collected over the years..its one of those things if u dont have spare cash its hard to get cool shit u want so its just something here and there..

It was my birthday the other day and i got some awesome stuff..laura always gets me rad stuff like this new painting table which is awesome!also a bunch of awesome rebel 8/mike giant stuff which ive been following for years but never had anything of either.so stoked..have a look at their blog if u havent yet its awesome www.shop.rebel8.com

also got the new 'done with electricity' australian tattoo book,deep blue parkway crew neck and a shitload of art supplies!!my family are rad!!!

I dont know why its taken me so long to get this album cause i loved 'mutiny' but fuck this is awesome!!set your goals just mix everything i love punk/hc/melody and a sense of honesty that seems to be lacking in alot of shit lately!!and suprisingly one of the best guest spots on the album is hayley williams..oh and the cover artwork is bullshit good!

Life Wont Wait

So i havent posted anything on here for ages...got the internerd at home now..so when my wife isnt on here ill post some shit!!i have been finding a shitload of different blogs lately from going from one blog and looking at their friends and so on ... frank turner,craola,uncle allen are just a few that have been awesome!also my brother in law shaun has got a little blog going too at shauncruickshank.blogspot.com hes doing a lot of cool shit!!Ive Been trying to get my hands on an apprenticeship lately.. hit most of the shops on the coast and no one is busy enough or already have an apprentice so i suppose the hunt continues...tattooing is hard as fuck to get into..my drawings and painting have a long way to go so ill just keep smashing out some new stuff!!Heres some of what ive done recently..I really like seeing other artists show their process of paintings from sketches to the finished product...im unsure of a background at the moment so this is what i started with and what im up to now...
I also love looking at studios/cool houses and just generally places where people do art...so all the ones i have seen are way cooler looking than mine but im just using what i got to make it as comfy as i can..I saw a promo clip for the new banksy doco the other day and as much as stencils dont really excite me it did get my cranium going thinking of putting up some posters up on the coast..the problem is because its generally a beautiful place and i have some what strong morals i have to pick places that arent going to make the coast look shit but also are visible enough for people to see them...got a couple of posters made up so far...theyre bigger than they look in the photo about 60 or so cms...
The other day we had to clean chester my cats nub cause his bone is busting through his skin which has left a nice hole...got him wrapped up and now hes gonna have to get another operation cause they didnt take enough out the first time...anyway hes ok but while laura was cleaning him some water got on my jeans and left a cool water mark..its the little things that make me smile hahaHad some awesome snacks the other day thanks to laura tellin me to live a little and try some new dip so i got beetroot dip and some brie on some saaaakaaaataaa crackers....so rad!!!
The dumpers are playing a show this weekend up at maroochydore and club envy or something its on sunday night with infinite thought process so should be fun... monday is a public holiday too for most people not me though..

New Additions

A couple of new drawings...its been hard to draw for the last little while cause ive actually got a real job now haha which sucks but hey u gotta do what u gotta do!!

Did this one last nite took me a while not stoked on the colour of the actual ice cream/shit but dont mind the rest of it.

Laura bought a frame the other day and was whinging that i havent painted anything for her yet so i did this owl for my beautiful wife!its only small maybe about the size of my hand!Bad photo but you get the picture.

This is what my wife came home with the other day!!He is a legend!! He may be missing a leg but he makes up with it with his personality! After alot of back and forth we decided to call him Chester..i was keen on Nubsy but no go!

where the wild things are

I got these sweet 'where the wild things are' posters today from the video shop...pretty stoked cause theyre in awesome condition and theyre massive too! love getting cool free shit!

Also got this cool canvas from brooke..which i decided to just have some fun with,had some friends around, couple of drinks and smoked alot.... made a quick sketch of a couple of characters then drew them on with markers,my cousin viv got in on it too...

i love drawing simple characters, would liked to of been drawing some of these when i was doing street art in melbs a few years back..would definitely like to have a paint again one of these days..

Paint it black!

So i've been drawing a shitload lately and i wanted to have a site to put them up on instead of using facebook ect...so ive created this blog with the help of my brother Joel..

This will be updated as i have more drawings,its mostly for art and shit like that but other stuff will creep its way in every so often too...

This first lot are some of the first ones i have done with liquid water colours i hadnt quite got into mixing colours yet so some of them are a bit brighter than i wanted them to be but worked out ok in the end...in both sheets i messed up the middle picture so i just cut them into sections.

This one turned out better than i thought it would.. I like doing black and gray paintings with a single colour for highlights..the eye and the mouth i did a while ago using prisma colour pencils but u think they look alot better now done with water colours..

This sheet is pretty recent just trying different things,tried doing a different rose with different colours and i was stoked with how it turned out especially since i thought i fucked it by putting blue in it! i was pretty angry when i was doing this sheet so things were a little more towards that in this one..
I was stoked when i finished this one, this is the first painting i did using black tattoo ink instead of black water colour... its a little harder to use but i think its better in that u can put colours on top of it without loosing all the black...recently sold this too my good mate leeroy..Thanks mate!

On that note i currently am not working very much so if anyone wants something painted hit me up at whatistocome@hotmail.com all paintings will be A3 and ill chuck a frame on them for $60..so get at me!!Also started using red tattoo ink in my paintings. This is my favourite rose ive done so far.These two are new ones ive been working on just trying a couple of things i havent done before hopefully painted theyll work out ok......im out!
